Feed supply and farm equipment stores often have loading docks that can be used by the public for free or for a small fee. A loading dock is made to accommodate the height of semitruck trailers so that the lawn mower can be easily driven onto the trailer bed. If no loading dock is available then a lowboy trailer with a detachable neck is required for ground loading.

Back the trailer up to a loading dock, set the parking brake and put wheel chocks in between the tires to keep it from rolling. Ask two people to stand at the rear of the trailer on both sides to be spotters. Instruct the spotters to point in toward the trailer when the tractor needs to drive inward and to point out away from the trailer when the tractor needs to drive outward. Tell them that crossing their arms is the signal to stop.
Drive the tractor onto the loading dock and line up the front or rear wheels with the sides of the trailer. Do this by driving forward and paying attention to the spotters on each side of the trailer. Put the tractor in its lowest gear and open all windows so you can hear the spotters.
Drive the tractor forward slowly shifting your eyes from one spotter to the other and looking straight forward for keeping the hood of the tractor centered with the center of the trailer bed. Stop the tractor in the center of the trailer.
Hook a cargo chain around the inner axle of each of the tractor's four tires. Pull the front axle's chains toward the front of the trailer and hook the hooks to the guardrail of the trailer frame and pull the rear axle's chains toward the rear of the trailer and hook the hooks to the guardrail. This will keep the tractors for sale from moving forward and backward while in transit.
Attach a chain binder to each of the chains and winch the binder down tight with the chain winch bar. The end of the winch bar goes up over the binder handle and is then pulled downward with your hands and body weight until the binder locks into place.
